Kindergarten Graduation Day!

Mia & her puppy patiently wait to begin. Lauren points to the months.

Katie pointing to the day & one of their songs.

Katie receives diploma. Lauren receives diploma. Displaying their diplomas & '08 tassels.

After a postponed day of school (power was out from severe storms Wednesday night), the Kindergarten Graduation ceremony took place this morning. The girls were very excited to become first graders. They began the ceremony by showing us some things they do at their morning meeting. As the class read along together, Kaitlin showed us the day, "Today is Friday, June 6, 2008," and Lauren got to point to the months of the year. They sang some songs and then we watched a video their teacher made of things throughout the year. One was from learning about the presidents. They got to give a campaign speech. The other was their favorite part of kindergarten and favorite book from the year. Then they all received their diplomas. Afterwards we enjoyed cake and lots of snacks!

Happy 3rd Birthday Mia!

On Memorial Day we had a little birthday party for Mia along with some of our church friends. The weather was beautiful and we all had such a nice time enjoying the outdoors and everyone's company. Mia asked for a Mickey Mouse birthday this year, so I had made several round cakes to attempt a Mickey Mouse cake. The morning of the big party I sat there cutting things to size and frosting layers while Mia helped herself to all the crumbs. She looked like she had been to the party before it even began. She loved her Mickey Mouse cake!

The Life and Times of Mia

Every now and then you just get some cute and funny little pictures. Here are a few of Amelia.

If you look very carefully at Mia's tummy you'll see a tiny little toy mouse tucked into her blanket. She slept all through her nap like that.

The picture is dim, but one day as Mia sat trying to go potty she decided to play a little hand held video game from a McDonald's Happy Meal. She sat there forever before she realized we were watching and taking pictures of her.

And yes, apparently Mia found it necessary to use about half a roll of toilet paper to clean up after a successful visit to the bathroom. The water in the bowl was completely gone -- just to give you an idea of how much is really in there! Unfortunately, this was not the first or last unraveling we've discovered.

For a while Amelia had this obsession with Lauren and Katilin's Care Bear collection. Everywhere she went in the house the almost dozen little Care Bears had to come along. She always knew when one was missing. At naptime they all had to be lined up and tucked in right along with her.

Lost: One Tooth

Yes, the day has finally arrived! Lauren has lost her first tooth. They have both anxiously been awaiting this day ever since the dentist told them they might have a loose tooth in about six months (that was last August.) Lauren frantically came to me one night after starting to brush her teeth. Her tooth had twisted sideways. This was it! When I went to pull it she says, "I don't like this!" But was all smiles a few seconds later as she held her first lost tooth in her hand. That night the Tooth Fairy visited and left a little surprise under her pillow. I've been surprised at how patiently Katie is now waiting for her loose tooth to finally come out. She is very excited for a visit from the Tooth Fairy too. : )

"This Is America"

On Friday, May 16 the girls' school put on a patriotic musical entitled, "This Is America." All the students wore red, white and blue shirts with a state abbreviation and the year of it's statehood decorated on the back. Lauren chose to have Texas on her shirt. Kaitlin went with Wisconsin. The anticipation and excitment for the big night could hardly be contained! Everyone did a great job singing their songs and remembering all their
speaking parts and dance moves. Katie was quite
the dancing queen. I think we'll have to sign her
up for American Idol! ; )

Afterwards the girls had a little fun on stage with some of their classmates.

Happy Easter!

This is our family at the front of church on Easter Sunday morning.
The girls were very excited to put on their fancy new Easter dresses that day.
My sister Emily and her fiancee Lewis were there also. They flew out the week before Easter while the girls had their school break for a visit. We had lots of fun with them!
